January 2023 Update

December 2022 Update

December 2022

Dear Families,

I am happy to inform you the District is providing fresh Pink Lady Apples, Broccoli and Cabbage from a local farm as part of our continuing involvement in the Long Island Farm to School Program. The apples have been served as a fruit option of the day, the broccoli was used with the Mac & Cheese and the cabbage will be used next week as the vegetable option as coleslaw.

Having access to locally grown produce is an amazing opportunity for our students. We are thrilled to be progressing with our Farm to School Initiative and we look forward to everything to come.

Have a happy and healthy evening,

Long Beach Elementaries Offer Farm Fresh Fruit Option

Throughout the last week of school, Long Beach elementary students were provided fresh strawberries as a fruit option during lunch. The strawberries were from a local farm as part of the district’s growing involvement in the Long Island Farm to School Program. This delicious fruit option was incredibly well received across the district, as evidenced by the smiling faces and kind words received. One East School second grader exclaimed, “These strawberries are a 10 out of 10!” The school district plans on expanding the initiative this fall.
