Long Beach High School celebrated a milestone achievement on June 11 as it held its 103rd Annual Commencement Ceremony, honoring the graduating Class of 2026. Held on Alumni Field, the ceremony brought together students, families, faculty, staff, and district leaders for a memorable celebration of accomplishment, perseverance, and new beginnings.

The ceremony began with the traditional processional to “Pomp and Circumstance,” performed by the Graduation Orchestra, followed by the National Anthem performed by members of the Graduation Orchestra and Choir.

Long Beach High School Principal Andrew Smith welcomed attendees and reflected on the importance of resilience, learning from mistakes, and maintaining a positive outlook in the face of challenges. He shared practical advice for life beyond high school, encouraging graduates to be punctual, make their beds each day, and begin investing in a 401(k) as early as possible, noting the long-term benefits of compound interest. He concluded his remarks by urging students to “go big, work hard, be kind, and always have fun.”

Board of Education President Alexis Pace addressed the graduating class with an inspiring message about authenticity and personal growth. She encouraged students to focus on meaningful experiences rather than constant comparison and striving. “Notice more, appreciate the people around you, and listen to your own voice rather than being overwhelmed by others’ opinions,” she advised.

Valedictorian Marissa Miller delivered a heartfelt speech filled with gratitude and encouragement. Thanking her family, friends, teachers, and mentors, she reflected on the challenges of procrastination and the pursuit of life goals. She acknowledged that the future may not come with a clear roadmap but emphasized the importance of forging one’s own path. “We must enjoy our youth and not make excuses for not living our lives to the fullest,” she concluded.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Gallagher shared her pride in the Class of 2026 and encouraged graduates to recognize the support system that helped them reach this milestone. She reminded students that Long Beach High School would always be a place they could call home and urged them to pursue their dreams while continuing to make their community proud.

Salutatorian Arsen Hrabko reflected on personal growth, perseverance, and the lessons learned through failure. Quoting the familiar phrase, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” he encouraged his classmates to approach life with courage, initiative, and a spirit of adventure.

Senior Class President Abigail Moehlenhoff fondly recalled the shared experiences that united the class throughout their high school years and offered her classmates best wishes as they embarked on their next chapters.

Following the speeches, each graduate proudly crossed the stage to receive a diploma, marking the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and achievement.

Student Organization President Grayson Schroeder then led the ceremonial turning of the tassels, symbolizing the official transition from student to graduate. The celebration concluded with enthusiastic cheers and the traditional cap toss, as the Class of 2026 stepped boldly into the future.
