Theme 8:  Creation, Expansion, and Interaction of Economic Systems
  • Key Ideas: There is a difference between needs and wants. People fulfill needs to live and pursue wants for pleasure. Scarcity happens when needs or wants are greater than the resources. People work in communities to meet their needs and wants. Saving money and resources is important. People need to make informed and well-reasoned decisions about how to use their money.
  • Vocabulary: allowance, choice, community, decision, demand, goods, human resources, natural resources, income, job, needs, option, saving, scarce/scarcity, goals (short and long-term)
