Residency Verification
The annual Long Beach Public Schools Residency Verification for current
fifth-grade and eighth-grade students collects documentation that will
assist in assembling students’ records for middle/high school, and to
verify that all students who enter Long Beach Middle School and Long
Beach High School are legal residents of the district and entitled to
attend.
Parents/legal guardians of all current fifth-graders and eighth-graders
are sent a mailing in early January that explains the documentation
required and the method for submission. Additional information may be
obtained by calling the Registrar, or by clicking the information link
below. Verification must be completed before a current fifth-grade
student will be admitted to middle school and before a current
eighth-grade student will be admitted to high school.
The Board of Education considers valid student residency to be an
important component in confronting the district’s fiscal challenges.
Residency Verification is one tool to ensure that every child who is
educated in the district’s schools is legally entitled to that
education.
