Media, Visual & Performing Arts

Dear Students, Parents and Community Members:

Welcome to the district web page for Media, Visual & Performing Arts!
The varied curriculum of Long Beach's Visual Arts department provides students with a broad array of opportunities to develop their curiosity for the Arts and understand how Art not only relates to them personally but to the world around them as well. Our Visual Arts department goal is to continue to provide opportunities for all learners to be able to develop the essential 21st century skills critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity and connections to school and community.

The Long Beach Music Department offers students a strong foundation through the exploratory elementary program with performing ensembles begin in the upper elementary grades.  Students then move onto a variety of courses, and musical experiences throughout Middle School and High School.  Our programs and ensembles have been recognized for their excellence locally, as well as at the state and national levels. We are very proud to have been named one of the Best 100 Communities for Music Education in America for the past five years.

The talented and dedicated teachers of the Media, Visual and Performing Arts department are committed to helping every student create a valuable and memorable artistic life in Long Beach Public Schools.
