FARM TO SCHOOL PRODUCE UPDATE

January/February 2023

Dear Families,

Throughout January and February, Long Beach elementary students have been enjoying fresh potatoes as part of their lunchtime selections.

As part of the district’s continued involvement in the Long Island Farm to School Program, the potatoes are from a local farm. The delicious side option has been incredibly well received across the district, as noted by the smiling faces in the photos below. Additionally, I recently met with fourth graders to discuss the health benefits of potatoes!

Having access to locally grown produce is an amazing opportunity for our students. We are happy to be part of the Farm to School Initiative and we look forward to everything to come. Have a happy and healthy day,
